James R. "Jimmy" Knight prides himself as a small town "country lawyer".  He has practiced law in Cullman, Alabama for his entire career which has s panned more than 41 years.  His experience in the legal field and in politics make him much more than just a country lawyer.  He served as Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party for four and one-half years in the early 80s and served as a member of the Democratic National Committee.  Jimmy is more interested in the mechanics of party politics than he is in holding office.

Jimmy has tried many cases down through the years.  He served as President of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association and is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.  Jimmy also served as President of the Alabama Chapter of ABOTA.

Jimmy is proud of his family.  He has been married to his "Ms. Shelby" for more than 46 years and they have four grown children.  His eleven grandchildren keep him active and busy.

Jimmy is proud to have represented hundreds of people over the years, primarily helping them fight insurance companies, receive just compensation for injuries that they have received in car and truck accidents - as well as industrial accidents.

He always has time to talk with those who come in looking for a lawyer whether it be about a dispute with an insurance company, problems with neighbors or family members, real estate matters or wills and estates.
